FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Atlas Lionesses devour South Korea

The Atlas Lionesses of Morocco earned their first three points at the World Cup with a 1-0 victory over South Korea.

Ibtissam Jraidi scored Morocco’s first World Cup goal and the only goal of the match when she headed home in the 6th minute.

Morocco defender, Nouhaila Benzina made history by becoming the first player to wear a hijab at a World Cup.

With this victory, Morocco has revived their hopes of going beyond the group stage after their disastrous  6-0 loss to Germany in their opening match.

South Korea, on their part, are on the verge of elimination after losing their first two matches.

In the group’s last match, Morocco will take on Colombia while Germany confronts South Korea. Both matches will take place simultaneously on Thursday.
