FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP: Africa Starts On A Bright Note

The Young Teranga Senegal commence their campaign, and in extension, Africa’s campaign in the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a resounding 3-0 victory over Tahiti.

Amadou Sagna opened scoring for the West Africans in less than 10 seconds.

The 19 year-old made it two on the 30th minute and completed his heart-trick on the 50th minute.

The second match of the group saw Colombia defeat the host, Poland 2-0.

Ivan Angulo opened scoring on the 23rd minute and Luis Sandoval scored deep into extra time to give the South Americans a comfortable lead.

Senegal will next face Colombia on 26 May, while Tahiti take on Poland that same day.

In Group B matches Italy defeated Mexico 2-1.

Davide Pradesi opened scoring for the Europeans but Mexico restored parity through De La Rosa on the 37th minute.

Luca Ranieri gave Italy all three points with a 67th minute goal.

In the Group’s other match, Japan and Ecuador settled their encounter 1-1. Japan went behind when Tagawa put the ball into his net on the 45th minute.

The Asians fought back and restored parity on the 68th minute through Kota Yamada.
