FIFA U-17 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Flamingos to Battle Canada, France

The Flamingos of Nigeria have been drawn in group D of the 9th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, against Canada, 2012 champions, France and Samoa. The competition will take place in Morocco between October 17 and November 8, 2025.

This will be the first time 24 teams will be contesting in the competition. Asia, Central and North America as well as South America are producing four representatives each, while Africa will have five participants including host, Morocco. Europe will have five representatives while the Oceania Confederation will have two representatives.

In other groupings, the first African country to host this championship, Morocco will play in group A against Brazil, Italy and Costa Rica.

In group B, Defending and three time champions, North Korea will battle Mexico, Cameroon and Netherlands.

United States of America will play in group C against Ecuador, China and Norway.

2010 champions, South Korea will confront Cote d’Ivoire, Colombia and two time champions, Spain in group E.

2014 champions, Japan, New Zealand, Zambia and Paraguay will fight to finish in group F.

Nigeria’s best performance came in 2022 when they fished third. Their opening match at this World Cup will take place on October 19 against Canada at the Mohammed VI Football Academy.
