FG’s Renewed Hope Police Agenda will ensure NPF is strategically positioned to accomplish its mandate -Minister


The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman- Ibrahim has said that the implementation of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Police Agenda will ensure that the Nigeria Police is strategically positioned to accomplish its mandate.

Speaking during the Citizen Town Hall Engagement On Strengthening Policing In Nigeria, held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim, pointed out that as a responsible government, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu placed security at the centre of his administration’s eight point priorities through the implementation of a community policy strategy designed based on local peculiarities the considerations with the full participation of members of various countries and stakeholder blocs to ensure inclusivity and full ownership.

She disclosed that the Town Hall is part of an extensive series of engagements across the country to catalyze a grassroot understanding of security dynamics and foster specific solutions, pointing out that despite some security challenges Abia State has encountered in relation to being renowned as a commercial and industrial hub, the State has consistently shown resilience which they promised to help to sustain and strengthen.

The Minister of State for Police Affairs reassured that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to live up to it’s constitutional responsibilities of seeing to the emergence of a world-class Police Force that is inclusive, intelligence led technology driven and community based.

She commended the President for his commitment to ensure the security and safety of the country as well as the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for this transformative vision in steering Abia State into an era of commendable progress.

In his remarks, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex OttiAbia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, who reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing security across the state, noted that security remains a top priority for his administration hence the establishment of the Joint Security Taskforce, codenamed “Operation Crush”, as a key initiative aimed at combating insecurity and criminal activities throughout Abia State.

Governor Otti maintained that the event Themed, “Community Policing: Building a Safer Nigeria Together,” underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring a safer society.

In a goodwill message, the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha described the town hall meeting as timely and essential for Abians and commended Governor Otti for prioritizing security and ensuring that all parts of the state are protected.

Earlier in his address, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, said that that the Abia Police command would continue to be steadfast in ensuring adequate security of lives and properties.

He urged the traditional rulers and mayors of the various local government to collaborate with the security agencies in fighting the issue of insecurity and other social voices in the state.

The Minister inspected the Police Clinic and Police command primary school during the visit.
