FGGC Students Feud: Abia NAWOJ Condemns Brutal Attack, Demands Justice

The Abia State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has condemned an incident at Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), where a student, Miss Adaeze,Chinweoke reportedly bit off a portion of a fellow student, Miss Amarachi Chibueze’s tongue during a fight over food.

Reacting to the ugly incident, the Abia NAWOJ in a statement signed by the Chairperson, Comrade Josephine Ogwo, strongly criticized Adaeze’s actions as “barbaric”, and asserted that no level of provocation could justify such violence.

Adaeze and her parents should be prosecuted for the wicked and inhuman act”, the Abia NAWOJ Chairperson stated.

The Association highlighted that the ugly has brought to the fore the poor feeding arrangement in the school, noting that if students were adequately fed, the altercation over food might never have occurred.

NAWOJ also questioned the actions of the school’s administration, criticizing the decision of the Principal to take Amarachi to a private hospital instead of the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, where she could have received proper medical care.

The Abia NAWOJ Chairperson further emphasized the need for parental guidance and discipline, pointing out that proper upbringing could help prevent such violent confrontations among students.

There’s urgent need for parents to give good home training to their children. The students would not have engaged in physical brawl if they had proper up bringing”, Mrs Ogwo said.
