FG Reaffirms Commitment to Hosting WPRF 2026

The Federal Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to hosting the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), branding the event as a strategic platform to advance Nigeria’s global communication footprint and showcase responsible narrative leadership.

Speaking today (Monday, December 22, 2025) at a media parley held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, underscored the government’s support for preparations toward the global gathering scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, themed; “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”

Idris revealed that the Tinubu-led administration is mobilising resources, policy frameworks, and inter-agency collaboration to ensure that WPRF 2026 is delivered to world-class standards. He said the forum presents a timely opportunity for Nigeria to drive global discourse on ethical communication, rebuild public trust through transparent engagement, and project a positive national image.

The Communication boss highlighted the role of responsible communication in confronting misinformation, strengthening democratic values, and fostering social cohesion in an era where information flows rapidly across borders. He said the event will amplify Nigeria’s narrative leadership and position the country as a hub for strategic public relations in Africa and beyond.

Meanwhile, the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku expressed gratitude for the ministry’s support and called on Nigerian communicators to leverage the forum to redefine global narratives about Nigeria.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Vice President of NIPR, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, along with industry leaders and PR practitioners charged with coordinating the national rollout of WPRF initiatives. The forum is expected to draw delegates and thought leaders from over 120 countries, offering workshops, high-level panels, and networking events that highlight best practices in strategic communication.
