Federal Presence In Abia: Collaborate With Otti, Others – Sen Nwaka Tells NASS Deputy Speaker

A Third Republic Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Emma Nwaka has encouraged the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu to collaborate with Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti and other elected representatives from Abia, to attract Federal Government presence to the state.

Speaking on the sidelines of the recent 10th Assembly Inauguration, Senator Nwaka further called on the Lawmakers to support the administration of Governor Alex Otti by assisting the Governor to identify with projects that would be of immerse socio economic benefit to the people.

Nwaka, who was a one time state Chairman of the Abia PDP, noted that an effective operational relationship between the state government and the Lawmakers would not only attract dividends of democracy to the state but also engender socio economic and political development.

According to him, “At the end of the day, what matters really will not be the political party one belongs to, but the ability of all of you working together in harmony to attract democracy dividends to our state in general and your respective constituencies, aside from making laws for the peace and good governance of our beleaguered country.

“In the same vein, I most humbly encourage you and your colleagues from our State to extend a hand of fellowship to our State Governor by helping him to identify and attract to Abia State those projects only the Federal Government can dish out.

“This was the spirit in which those of us in the ill-fated Third Republic National Assembly worked with the first elected Governor of Abia State. We used to hold periodic meetings with him for the good of our State. I commend this political ethics to you”.

While congratulating Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu on his “well deserved” emergence as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sen Nwaka said, “Your emergence speaks volumes about your general acceptability among your peers that not a single dissenting voice was raised against your nomination and eventual election.

“The apparent effortless ease with which you network with those of opposing political affiliations is one of the traits in you that I admire. This trait is a major tool anyone who wishes to make a success of their political career in our complex and difficult political environment needs a large dose of.

“I am indeed happy that your colleagues from Abia State irrespective of individual political differences rose as one to support your election. I urge you not to take their support for granted. I pray that you watch their backs in return”.

The former Abia PDP boss, while noting that Rt. Hon Kalu’s new assignment as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th National Assembly is not an easy one, prayed God to grant him the grace to acquit himself creditably.
