Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Joint Task Force has issued a week ultimatum to illegal squatters and metal scrap traders operating in Apo-Dutse area.
The order was given by the Director of the FCT, Department of Development Control, Murhtar Galadima.
This decision was explained by Galadima in response to an intelligence assessment highlighting issues related to several robberies and unrest in the area.
The director said previously the metal scrap traders were demolished by the previous administration but came back to the land later.
The squatters were advised to leave and start removing their valuables by the director before the administration’s bulldozers would be leveling the area in a week’s time.
Galafima also said that the place had been allocated for residential purposes, adding that the team will clear the place for the owners to commerce development or risk revocation.
Earlier, the Secretary of Command and Control, FCTA, Dr. Peter Olumuji, said that the task force has been receiving reports of different types of criminal activities attacking the Estate, stealing things from them, added that once the demolished the area crime rate will reduce.
