FCT Black Spots Under Siege: Police Arrest 116, Prosecute 27

In a bid to combat drug-related crimes in the Federal Capital Territory, the Anti-Narcotics Section of the FCT Police Command has launched a series of targeted raids across notorious hotspots. From August 1, 2025, to date, police officers have conducted coordinated operations to rid the area of illicit substances and curb associated crimes.

The FCT Police Command’s Anti-Narcotics Section conducted a series of operations in several areas, including Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi. These efforts resulted in the arrest of 116 suspects.

During the operations, police recovered various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis. After thorough screening, 89 suspects were released, while 27 offenders were charged to court for public nuisance and possession of illicit substances.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the operatives for their efforts, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining a safe and drug-free capital city. He urged residents to remain law-abiding, avoid hard drug abuse and trafficking, and support ongoing security initiatives.
