FA CUP: Plymouth Humble Liverpool As Wolves, Villa Qualify

Plymouth Argyle produced a superlative performance to eliminate Liverpool 1-0 in the fourth round of the English FA Cup.

After an uninspiring first half, the match came to life eight minutes into the second half when Harvey Elliott handled the ball in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Ryan Hardie converted the penalty to give Plymouth the lead which they gave their all to protect until the referee blasted the final whistle.

It was a match of two teams with two contrasting fortunes. While Liverpool are leaders in the Premier League, Plymouth are bottom of the Championship. The outcome of the match is most likely due to Arne Slot’s decision to make ten changes to the team that blew away Spurs on Thursday and paid a heavy price.
