Governor Alex Otti has formally inaugurated the principal officers of the 9th Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers with Eze Linus Mbah Ntoh as Chairman.
Other members of the Council comprise; Eze Nelson Nmerengwa as the first deputy, Eze Franklyn Nwosu as the second deputy, and Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu as the third deputy Chairman.
Speaking while inaugurating the Council at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Governor Otti said his administration is meticulous in the selection of the leadership of the council due to the significant role they play in society.
Governor Otti explained that the restructuring of the council was essential to align with the present administration’s goals adding that his government places priority on working with individuals who share the vision of progressing the state.
He congratulated the new leadership and expressed optimism that their reign will be devoid of rancour, acrimony and negative tendencies that draw the state backward.
The Governor encouraged the traditional rulers to collaborate with critical stakeholders to ensure community peace and security and advised them to support the government’s “Operation Crush” security initiative aimed at combating all forms of criminal activities.
He warned that government will unleash the full force of the law on traditional rulers who collaborate with criminals to terrorize their communities.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to the development of rural areas and the delivery of essential services to the people, such as portal water, quality education, infrastructure, healthcare services and other dividends of democracy.
He encouraged traditional rulers to stay informed about their communities, emphasizing that information is crucial for policy-making and progress and assured them of the government’s support.
In his address earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu described the inauguration as a landmark event, pointing out that it is part of the new foundation that the present administration is laying and prayed God to bless the traditional rulers with the wisdom to succeed.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of other members of the council, Chairman Eze Linus Mbah Ntoh thanked Governor Alex Otti for finding them fit for the responsibility and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Eze Ntoh promised that the new leadership of Abia State Traditional Rulers’ Council will key behind the newly launched “Operation Crush” security initiative of Governor Alex Otti, which is aimed at further strengthening the security of the state and commended the Governor for the release of the newly approved 5 per cent stipends for traditional Rulers in the state.
