Expect Positive Contribution To Your Wellbeing – Omerekpe Assures Abians, As He Flags-Off Free Medical Outreach

 

The Founder of Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe ( Ofor Ndigbo) has assured Abians of his continuous contributions to the development of their wellbeing, says he is interested in the plight of Abians.

Chief Omerekpe who stated this when he flagged off a two day free medical outreach for the people of Aba, promised Abians of more positive contributions.

Speaking at the official flag off ceremony, held at Hotel De La Paiz, Aba, one of the 2023 PDP Guber Aspirants, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe, revealed that his foundation targets the health of Ndi Abia and how to arrest the incessant health challenges confronting the people.

According to him, his medical outreach has no political undertone, stating that for over 17 years, his foundation has been touching lives through its annual free medical outreach, empowerment, distribution of food items,as well as awarding of scholarship.

He said eventhough he withdrew his ambition of becoming Abia next governor before the PDP primaries, it does not stop him from investing and carrying out his yearly medical outreach.

“I am strictly acting on the word of God, that instructed me to place premium on the health and general wellbeing of Abians”.

He revealed that the foundation is centering on the health and welfare of the people, who he said have suffered medical set back as a result of the dwindling economy, which has affected their financial base.

“The poor state of infrastructures have affected businesses negatively, thereby, making it difficult for people to access and fund for medical treatment”. He added that the free medical outreach, cuts across the length and breadth of Abia, as already the 17 Local Government Areas in the state,have benefited from the outreach over the past years.

However, Chief Omerekpe, promised to support victims of the Ariaria flood disaster, urging Aba residents to vote in credible leaders that would take their plight seriously.

In an interview, the Director General, Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation, Elder Nnamdi Okogbuo, gave more insight about the operations of the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation.

According to him, the foundation is what God used to instruct Chief Omerekpe to serve humanity.

Elder Okogbuo said the foundation which is a non profit organization was born years ago to serve humanity, with the motto of the foundation hanging around James 1:27.

He recorded that for the past 17 years, the foundation has been busy engaging on people oriented programmes, which he stated, triggered the call from people, beckoning on Chief Ncheta Omerekpe to come into politics, adding that though he withdrew his political ambition, but Chief Omerekpe is not deterred towards helping humanity.

Elder Okogbuo also noted that during the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation, distributed food items to Abians, maintaining that overtime, the foundation has made frantic efforts in putting Abians in a healthy state through its free medical programme.

According to him, the foundation last year, had carried out a free eye treatment across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, noting that the free medical outreach for this year,is basically to get Abians fit, ahead of the 2023 elections, stating that soon Abia North and Central would get their turns in the gesture.

He added that the outreach which is targeting over 6000 Abians for this phase, is being conducted by medical experts from the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba and fully sponsored by the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation.

While urging the government to make investment in the health sector a priority as it is overseas, said no nation can produce a strong economy, without first producing healthy citizens that can run the economy, stressing that a ‘healthy nation,is a wealthy nation’.

He, however, lamented that the death rate in Nigeria is on the increase because people can nolonger afford medical treatment or pay hospital bills.

Earlier, the medical team enjoined Abians to be conscious of the state of their health, avoid the intake of food that can complicate their health status.

According to them, late meals,fatty food,red meat, carbonated soft drinks should be avoided, urging Abians to imbibe a healthy eating habit,avoid stress, bleaching creams and engage in daily exercise.

Reacting,some of the beneficiaries of the medical outreach, appreciated Chief Omerekpe for his show of love for humanity, urging him not to relent in the vision, praying God to grant him more financial enablement, wisdom and understanding.

Highpoint of the event was the official flag off of the medical outreach by the founder of the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation, distribution of insecticide treated mosquitoe nets, distribution of drugs,among others.
