Ex-Gov Emmanuel Reflects on Late Uma Ukpai

The immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has recounted his last encounter with renowned cleric, the late Reverend Uma Ukpai.

He described the late evangelist as a bold and fearless man who feared nothing, not even death.

Speaking during a service held in honour of the cleric, the former governor charged Christians to remain steadfast and committed even in the face of difficulties. He noted that God has countless ways of solving problems, adding that this was one of the profound messages he received from the late evangelist
a message he has held on to.

“Reverend Uma Ukpai was so bold. He was a man who never feared death. When you see a man who does not fear death, then by every human assessment, he must be a righteous man.

“I was privileged to visit him shortly before he passed. I went with my wife, and Daddy blessed us. He prayed extensively… I’m grateful we are here to share in this solemn yet glorious moment.

“He said to me, ‘God has millions of ways of solving one problem.’ This is a statement I will never forget. If you limit God, you are on your own. Clearly, he was reminding us, even as he was about to depart, that we serve an unlimited God—one who has countless ways of solving problems.

“Our prayer as a family is to that same God who has millions of ways of handling issues.

“We pray that the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Ministry will continue to grow stronger and stronger, and that God will take care of the wife and the mother he has left behind.”

The former governor, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel, also acknowledged the presbytery, choirs, planning committee, and guests from all walks of life who contributed to making the event a memorable tribute to the revered “General of God.”.
