EUROPA LEAGUE: Onana Returns As United Battle Lyon

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has recalled Andre Onana to the starting eleven as they welcome Lyon to the Old Trafford in the second leg of their quarter-final clash in the UEFA Europa League.

Onana was blamed for the two goals United conceded in the first leg in France which saw the Red Devils settle for a 2-2 draw. Consequently, he was dropped in the Premier League clash with Newcastle United. But, his replacement, Altay Bayindir did not perform better as they suffering a 4-1 defeat in the hands of Newcastle United.

Recall that before the first leg, Nemanja Matic in responding to Onana’s claim that United are better than Lyon said that Onana is the worst goalkeeper United have had.

United fans expected Onana to keep a clean sheet in the first leg to prove that Matic was wrong. But, he failed.

This second leg offers Onana another opportunity to prove that Matic was wrong.

In other quarter-final matches, Athletic Club will host Rangers after a goalless first leg while Frankfurt will host Tottenham Hotspurs after the first leg ended 1-1. In Italy, Lazio will have an uphill task as they will try to upturn a two goals deficit against Boda Glimt.
