Four regulars for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Leon Balogun and Alex Iwobi were on the losing side in the EPL matches played today.
Playing at the King Power Stadium, Wilfred Ndidi and his Leicester City teammates were defeated 2-1 by visiting Southampton.
Ndidi scored his club’s only goal in the second half while his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute.
Iwobi was in action for the full ninety minutes as his club Arsenal were beaten by West Ham 1-0. It was 19 years old Declan Rice that scored the only goal on the 48th minute.
Leon Balogun watched from the bench as Mohamed Salah’s second half penalty helped Liverpool defeat Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
However, another Nigerian, Isaac Success watched from the bench as his club Watford came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1.
In other matches Cardiff and Huddersfield settled for a goalless draw while Burnley defeated Fulham 2-1.
In the late kick-off, at the Stamford Bridge, Chelsea and Newcastle United are playing a 1-1 draw.
