EPL: Spurs Shock Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur went, saw and defeated Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Smadium to make it two wins out of two under new manager Thomas Frank.

When they visited last November they humbled City 4-0 in a breath-taking performance.

After holding on against City’s attacks, Spurs took the lead with their first real threat of the game, Richarlison’s low cross was converted by Brennan Johnson. The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but that was overturned following a review by the VAR.

Spurs doubled their lead through Joao Palhinha, who smashed in after a loose pass from goalkeeper James Trafford inside his own area late in the first half.

Manchester City could not crawl back into the game as the Europa champions left the Etihad with three points.

Pep Guardiola’s men will now turn their wrath on Brighton next Sunday while Spurs host Bournemoth on Saturday.
