The sky was anything but blue in England as Manchester City and Chelsea were humbled in their respective home grounds by Crystal Palace and Leicester respectively.
At the Stamford Bridge, the Foxes out-smarted Sarri’s men to win by a lone goal courtesy of Vardy’s 51st minute goal. This is Chelsea’s first home defeat this season. While Chelsea was being humbled at home a bigger drama was going on at the Etihad Stadium.
Before the match, Manchester City knew that they have to win to keep in touch with Liverpool, who had earlier on Friday defeated Wolves 2-0. But, Roy Hodgson and his boys had something else in mind.
Ikay Gundogan headed the home side in front and it seemed the Citizens were going to enjoy another comprehensive victory.
Schlupp equalised for the visitors before Andros Townsend scored a beautiful goal from 30 yards to give Crystal Palace the lead.
A 51st minute penalty converted by Luka Milivojevic gave the visitors a surprise 3-1 lead. Pep Goardiola sent in Kevin de Bruyne to help rescue the sinking ship. Though he reduced the deficit by scoring on the minute, it did not stop Crystal Palace to clench a famous victory they will cherish for a long time.
