Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard converted a 53rd minute penalty to give Arsenal a 0 -1 victory over a resilient Crystal Palace side.
Sam Johnstone conceded the penalty after he brought down Eddie Nketiah in the vital area.
Arsenal was comfortable after the goal and was pressing to increase their lead until the 67th minute when Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off for two bookings. The first yellow card was for taking too long before a throw-in and the second was for his foul on Jordan Ayew.
From then Palace’ hopes for an equalizer increased and they pilled pressure on Arsenal, who celebrated after the blast of the final whistle.
Arsenal, who will take on Fulham on Saturday, are one of the three teams to have won their first two matches. The other two are Brighton and Manchester City.
