Epileptic salary payment of Teachers will end by Dec 2018-Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says his government will by December 2018 ensure it puts behind epileptic salary payment of teachers in the state.

 

Governor Ikpeazu who was speaking at a town hall meeting with Abia Teachers, at Okpara Auditorium Umuahia, noted that henceforth government will fashion out ways to block every loophole in payment of teachers salaries.

 

He added that the State will solve its own problem through wage bill management in a sustainable way.

 

According to the Governor,his administration has the interest of teachers in the state especially in areas of capacity building,provision of enabling working environment as well as payment of salaries among others.

 

He said that his administration is working on the pyshe and self esteem of teachers by exposing them to platforms that cut across the country.

 

Ikpeazu while noting that the greatest asset of teachers is their self confidence, urged them to create platforms that will boost their self esteem.

 

Governor Ikpeazu who used the occasion to reel out his administration’s achievements in office since inception said government will scale up infrastructures in the state schools and disclosed that model schools built by his administration will be commissioned by next month.

 

In a keynote address, the Education Secretary Aba North,Mrs Ngozi Nwogwugwu on behalf of her colleagues thanked the governor for the education empowerment program of Teachers in the state by the Precious Kids Empowerment, Australia which enabled them interact with their counterparts in Australia adding that the initiative afforded them the opportunity to upgrade on effective teaching and learning methods.

 

She further applauded governor Ikpeazu for clearing the salary arrears of primary school teachers in the state.
Senior Special Assistant to the governor on education, Hon.Benjamin Irokansi in his address highlighted the achievements of the governor in areas of education said the governor has done well in school feeding programme,building and equipment of model schools across the state,payment of teachers salaries  as well as creating enabling environment which has made the state maintain top position since three years.
One of the participants of Exchange Programme in Australia, Mrs Grace Ikoro thanked the governor for renovating government schools across the state.
