Environmental Experts Urge Rivers Residents to Protect, Preserve Their Surroundings

Environmental analysts have called on residents of Rivers State to adopt responsible practices that protect and preserve the environment for the wellbeing of all.

Speaking in a phone interview, environmental expert Abel Chinedu emphasized that safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility, noting that humans depend entirely on their surroundings for survival. He expressed concern over the persistent pollution caused by industrial activities and the indiscriminate disposal of waste, which often blocks waterways and produces harmful odours when left to decay.

Chinedu urged residents to keep their surroundings clean and habitable, stressing that proper waste management is essential to public health. He identified desertification and air pollution as some of the major environmental challenges confronting the state and the nation.

In a similar appeal, another analyst, Ihedum Obike, called for a change in public attitude toward environmental care. He noted that since the environment is controlled by human actions, residents must work collectively to protect and preserve it.

Both experts maintained that a clean environment directly benefits the people and contributes to healthier and safer communities.
