ENUGU: Yuletide, Enugu CP Orders Massive Deployment, Supervision To Prevent Crime

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Ahmed Ammani, has ordered massive deployment and supervision of policing assets and personnel to prevent crime and criminality within the state this yuletide.

The commissioner also ordered operational commands and units/squads under the Command to visibly patrol all the highways, streets and places of public interests as well as ensure the security and safety of the citizenry.

This is contained in a statement issued by the state’s Police Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, recently in Enugu on behalf of the commissioner.

The state police boss said that the directive was in compliance with the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali, and to actualise the operational and intelligence-driven plan designed to ensure a safe and secured yuletide.

He said: “I have ordered Officers in-Charge of the State Traffic Department and the State Intelligence Bureau to ensure the massive deployment of personnel to effectively manage the anticipated upsurge in road traffic within Enugu metropolis and other places.

“They should also gather necessary, credible and actionable crime-prevention information and intelligence.

“I also ordered the Deputy Commissioners of Police in-charge of Operations and the State CID to respectively ensure proper supervision and coordination of all operational and intelligence/investigation activities, geared towards actualising the Command’s 2022 Yuletide Security and Safety Plan.”

The CP, however, felicitated with the residents of the state, both home and abroad, as they join Christians all over the world to mark this year’s Christmas and New Year 2023 celebrations.

He reassures citizens that security and safety during and after the yuletide remained the Command’s top priority.

“l urge all and sundry to celebrate responsibly and show genuine love and care to one another, especially the poor and needy in the society.

“To this end, the good people of the state have been enjoined to always remain law-abiding, vigilante and promptly report suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest police station.
