ENUGU: People’s Assembly Should Be Renamed ” Nkanu PDP Assembly”

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Ndubueze Egbo, has lamented what he termed, ‘hijack’ of
Nkanu People’s Assembly and turning it into a puppet for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen recently, Egbo, who is also the Chairman, APC Nkanu West,
berated the Chairman of the Association, Igwe Abel Nwobodo, for allowing a meeting meant to be a neutral ground for all Nkanu Indigenes to discuss issues bordering the family, was turned into PDP.

“A meeting hosted in the name of the Association of ‘Ndi Nkanu’ was turned into a PDP meeting to endorse PDP Guber Candidate in Enugu, Mr. Peter Mbah.

“The association should be renamed ‘PDP Nkanu Association’ instead,” Egbo said.

He expressed unhappiness that the meeting was scheduled for 2pm and immediately it started, it just hinged one agendum, which was to endorse PDP guber candidate, Mr. Peter Mbah for governor.

The APC Council Chairman alleged the association had been hijacked and bastardized, claiming that the founding fathers of Enugu would be rolling in their graves now for such unwarranted maneuvering.

He wondered if the leaders had sold their consciences and jettisoned the core mandate of the association which is to promote the welfare of members & advance development of the zone.

“In the course of the meeting, chief Emma Okenwa, Labour party member walked away angrily,” he pointed out.

Mr. Egbo stated that the action was a big slap to all well – meaning Nkanu man, adding that it would not be taken lightly.
