ENUGU: New Year, Choose Better Option, AAC Guber Candidate Ogbodo Urges Ndi Enugu, Promises To Tackle Poverty

ENUGU–The African Action Congress (AAC), Governorship Candidate in Enugu State, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has commended the people of Enugu State for their resilience despite the harsh economic environment.

Ogbodo stated this in a statement issued by his Media aide, Mr Azubuike Akam, recently in Enugu to celebrate the new year.

The governorship hopeful urged the people to find time to relax, reflect, reinvigorate, reset, and recharge for the year.

He said: I encouraged Ndi Enugu to remain hopeful in the face of the current economic realities in the land, caused mainly by bad governance, leadership failure, poor economic growth, and development.

According to him, I sincerely appreciate the endurance and perseverance of Ndi Enugu over the years, that poverty should not be an option, adding that his main goal is to lift many people out of abject poverty of the pocket, mind, body, and soul. 

The AAC Guber Candidate, emphasised that leadership was about creating positive inspiration, influence, and positive impact to alleviate peoples’ suffering.

Ogbodo promised to provide better leadership, stressing that he knows that Ndi Enugu were seeking for better leadership in 2023 to alleviate their pains and suffering.

“My mission is to fully develop Enugu and to reposition the state on the part of growth while lifting many people out of abject poverty. From hopelessness to complete hopefulness.

“My plan is to develop Enugu by building structures to harness the comparative advantage that our state has over other sub national entities within Nigeria. 

“My focus will be to build a multi facet economy, modern infrastructure in urban and rural areas, focus on developing the agricultural sector, diversifying the energy sector by investing in renewable energy, improving the transport system, delivering a cleaner environment that would forestall the effect of climate change, creating a welcoming environment that will make Enugu state the destination of choice for private investors. 

“My desire is to lift our people out of poverty so they can have a decent life. I will commit to paying living wages for public and private sector workers and developing an efficient waste disposal system with recycling to keep Enugu cleaner. 

“I seek to change the narrative of Enugu as a civil servant state by building a competitive tourism, enhancing manufacturing, improving agriculture, and ensuring quality service delivery. 

“I will revamp the water system for residents of Enugu state, with adequate plans to resolve the perennial water scarcity that has bedevilled the state for decades.

“With the world centred on information technology, I will leverage on this by building tech hubs at designated locations in Enugu state so that burgeoning tech Enugulites, can develop the required skills that will enable them to thrive and achieve success. 

“I will invest in the health sector with focus on primary health care. We plan to build in every ward in the state, a Primary Health Centre, that will enable ease of access to health care for those in the rural areas and workers will be drawn from communities were these Primary Health Centres will be sited. 

“To sort the mess and liberate Enugu people, we have a five-point Agenda tagged “HOPES” Though there are other aspect of our Manifesto, the 5-point Agenda is our framework and major aspect.

1. Free Healthcare  

2. Many Opportunities 

3. More Prosperity 

4. Free Education  

5. Good Security 

“To spread the commonwealth for prosperity, we will ensure workers both in public and private sector are paid a living wage by increasing the minimum wage to #50,000 from Ist June 2023 as part of our 4 years incremental plan for Enugu workers. Our target is to raise the minimum wage to #100,000 within our term in office, if elected. It can be done; we will do it.
