Engr. Emetu speaks on AIIP, assures Amaekpu Ohafia Women Development Union of support.
The Deputy Governor of Abia State Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu said that the present administration in the State has made an arrangement to establish AIIP — Abia Industrial and Innovation Park, an Industrial cluster located towards the boundary with Rivers State, which will create job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Emetu, who made this declaration during a courtesy visit by Amaekpu Ohafia Women Development Union – Umuahia branch, in his office at Government House Umuahia, also disclosed that the state is looking forward for credible investors so that Abians will be gainfully employed.
He promised Amaekpu Ohafia Women Development Union, Umuahia branch of his support and expressed worries over their jobless youth and how they can be empowered in other to eliminate room for hoodlums.
Engr. Emetu disclosed that Ohafia is among the six Local Government Areas of the State housing Cocoa Estates.
Furthermore, the Deputy Governor emphasized more on Agriculture saying that farming has been upgraded into a mechanized way and urged the women to advise youths in their area to desist from stealing armoured cables and removing things from the transformer which is hindering Ohafia people from having electricity in their communities.
According to him, the unwholesome practice acts as clog in the wheel of progress of people’s business.
In conclusion, Engr. Emetu reassured the women of his promise to assist with the renovation and completion of their Meeting Hall.
In her vote of thanks, the Secretary of Amaekpu Ohafia Development Union, Mrs Chidinma Ekenna Oge thanked the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and his wife for making out time out of their busy schedule to listen to them and assured of him of their support.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of gifts to the Deputy and his wife, Adaeze Emetu.
The visit attracted the Wife of the Deputy Governor Mrs Ada-eze Chidera Emetu among others.
