The people of Isiala-Ukwu Mbato Autonomous Community of Umuobiakwa Village in Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia State, have endorsed their son, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as governor for second term in 2019.
Speaking on behalf of the people, the President General of Isiala-Ukwu Mbato Autonomous Community, Dr. Mike Enyinna, said they gathered to show solidarity and pledge their unalloyed support to their son, governor Ikpeazu for his developmental achievements in the State.
He said since the governor’s election in 2015, he has attracted too many projects in his community ranging from, tarred roads, built houses for widows and indigent people in the community, multi-skill acquisition centres, youth empowerment, appointed many of their children into positions of authority among others.
Enyinna said they have no doubt that he would replicate the same gesture he has made in past three years as governor come 2019.
Also Speaking, the Chairman on the occasion, Pastor Esiaba Ebere, who described the governor as passionate, trusted and transparent leader who has delivered quality democracy dividends to the people of the State.
He said it is their resolve to endorse him as their sole governorship candidate for 2019 general elections to enable him complete the good works he has started.
Responding, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, expressed delight for the honor done him and described the reception as epoch in the annals of the community.
Governor Ikpeazu, who read a Bible passage from the book of Psalm 124, disclosed that the achievements recorded by his administration so far was a feat that could be attributed to God.
While promising the people of his community and the State of selfless service and better projects ahead, he urged them to pray for his administration, acknowledging that the battles before them in 2019 elections would be fierce but assured that he would emerge victorious at the end.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Majority Leader in Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, Mr. Hanson Amechi, Chief Victor Ebere and Dr. H. C Akataobi, in their separate remarks, said they were endorsing governor for impacting on the lives of their people through his multifaceted projects and developmental strides recorded in the State especially Aba and it’s environs.
They said if Governor Ikpeazu is given another chance in 2019, that he would do more than they have seen on ground.
The highpoint of the event featured a Chieftaincy title of Akwaakwuru 1 of Isiala-Ukwu Mbato Autonomous Community, conferred on the governor and a gift item of Bible presented to him.
Present during the event were the SouthEast Chairman of Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Eze Eberechi Dick, Commissioners, and many top Government functionaries.
