Engr. Mrs. Chibuogwu Okoro, founder of the Nwanyi Okpuzu Initiative (She-Technician), celebrated the achievements of young female innovators in Nigeria in her 2024 Christmas message and called for the empowerment of future female engineers.
In a recent press release made available to our correspondent in Umuahia, Abia State, Engr. Okoro emphasized the initiative’s dedication to nurturing a new generation of female engineers.
She praised the passion of young girls for the sciences, particularly engineering, and encouraged secondary school students to embrace STEM, emphasizing that engineering is not exclusive to men.
According to her, the initiative has successfully trained young girls in technical fields such as solar panel installation, electrical wiring, and POP design, equipping them with vital skills for the future.
Additionally, the Nwanyi Okpuzu Initiative, she noted, has significantly reduced unemployment by providing entrepreneurial skills coaching for widows and housewives.
Engr. Okoro stated, “By partnering with stakeholders, the organization aims to extend its reach, empowering more women and girls to pursue careers in engineering and technical fields.”
She urged girls to adopt an “I-can-do-it” spirit, assuring them of their potential to excel and lead in engineering.
She reiterated that the initiative remains committed to identifying, training, and empowering She-Technicians and craftsmen while actively engaging communities through entrepreneurial skills acquisition programs and philanthropic services.
