Emetu Inspects Remodeled Ogbo School in Ubakala

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has led a high-powered delegation on an inspection tour of the newly remodeled Ogbo Primary School in Ubakala, Umuahia, as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to reposition public primary education through smart infrastructure development.

The visit formed part of a comprehensive quality assurance and monitoring exercise to ensure that education projects across the state meet approved standards and align with the administration’s Smart School initiative.

At the school, the Deputy Governor and his team were received by Mrs. Orieji Emele, Managing Director of Blue Giraffe, the firm handling the remodeling project. She conducted the delegation around the facility, highlighting the extensive transformation that has turned the school into a modern, technology-driven learning environment.

The upgraded Ogbo Primary School has the capacity to accommodate 300 primary school pupils and 90 nursery school pupils, with provision for future expansion. Facilities inspected included 10 spacious, well-ventilated primary classrooms; three nursery classrooms; and three overflow classrooms, all fitted with contemporary teaching aids.

Other amenities include a sick bay; an air-conditioned ICT laboratory equipped with 30 all-in-one computer systems and a dedicated server room; a staff office; a library and resource center; a central security and CCTV monitoring room; and 16 convenience rooms for pupils and staff.

Commending the quality of work and attention to detail, Emetu described the project as a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment that fosters academic excellence, creativity, and holistic development.

The inspection team later proceeded to City Primary School on School Road in Umuahia North Local Government Area for an on-the-spot assessment. The school is among those slated for upgrade into Smart Schools under the state’s education transformation programme.
