A group known as Title holders in Opobo Kingdom, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to speed up the process of achieving lasting peace to restore democratic governance in Rivers state from current emergency rule.
The Opobo Kingdom Title Holders, led by their Chairman, Amaopusenibo, Barr. Michael Epelle, made the appeal Friday, April 4, 2025 when they visited one of their own, Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his Port Harcourt residence.
In solidarity with the governor, Amaopusenibo Epelle noted, “So, we came here today to meet with him and see him. Since the declaration of state of emergency in the State, we have been concerned as elders of Opobo Kingdom.
“So we came to see our brother and see how he is doing and to show solidarity with him and encourage him. We know he is pursuing the path of peace. We know that that is what we need here at this time.
According to him, “From all indications and information available to us we believe that the President means well in declaring the emergency in order to restore normalcy in the State.
“Our appeal is that that process can be a beat fast tracked in order to achieve lasting peace. It is achievable with a position of good faith if both sides show good faith.”
He noted that Gov. Fubara is committed to the peace process and it can be achieved as soon as possible so that normalcy can return to Rivers State.
