The State and National Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia state has uphold the victory of the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Hon. Obinna Aguocha of the Labour Party (LP).
Delivering judgement, the chairman of the three-man Panel, Hon. Justice Abubakar Kutigi said that the Petitioner, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) failed to substantiate his claims levelled against the respondent.
The Panel having studied the petition since May 2023 came to a logical conclusion that the petition lacked merit and thereby dismissed the petition while affirming the victory of Obinna Aguocha on the 25th of February 2023 election.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the judgement, counsel to the Petitioner, Barr. Nkume told journalists that they would do a review of the judgement to know their next line of action.
