The remains of Elder Nelson Ocho Ogbonnaya have been laid to rest in his country home, Amaugbagha, Amokwe Item in Bende LGA.
Aged 89, Late Elder Nelson Ocho Ogbonnaya was survived by his two wives, 7 children, among whom is National Ambassador’s Correspondent in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Charles Eke Ogbonnaya, 5 grandchildren and other numerous relatives.
Preaching during the funeral Service held in his honour at the Amaugbagha Playground, Amokwe Item, the General Overseer of Christian Gospel Church, Pastor Okpo Ugwa reiterated that Jesus Christ is the only one that can bring lasting joy and peace in a believer’s life, hence the need for all to accept Him as their Lord and personal Saviour.
Pastor Ugwa who preached on the topic “A Set Time” pointed out that since every mortal has an appointed time to exist on earth and stand before God to give an account of their stewardship, it is therefore necessary for people to live upright lives that will enable them inherit eternal life when they die.
The General Overseer described the deceased, Elder Nelson Ocho Ogbonnaya as a faithful servant of God that made peace with his Maker before his demise and urged those he left behind to emulate his worthy christian life of service to God and humanity.
In his tribute on behalf of the Management and Staff of National Ambassadors Newspaper, a Senior Editor and inlaw to the deceased, Mr Kingsley Ugorji said they are proud to have Elder Nelson Ogbonnaya as their leader, brother and inlaw because of his wealth of wisdom, unassuming nature and peaceful disposition to issues and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Presenting a biography on behalf of the family, one of the daughters, Mrs Theresa Obiobi described their father as a peace maker, devout christian, as well as a perfect gentleman and socialite who always stood by the truth and promised that the family would uphold all his sterling legacies.
In his tribute, the son of the deceased and National Ambassador’s Correspondent in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr Charles Eke Ogbonnaya said his late father will be remembered for being a strong advocate for peaceful coexistence, unity, selfless service as well as his love for God and humanity and appreciated all for coming to identify with them.
The ceremony attracted the presence of top Govt Officials, Staff of the National Ambassador Newspaper, Office of the Deputy Governor, and members of Nigeria Union Of Journalists among others.
