The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in the Federal Capital Territory on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message issued in Abuja, Ike described Ramadan as a sacred period of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to the service of humanity. She commended the devotion and resilience demonstrated by Muslims during the fasting period, noting that such virtues promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
The NUJ FCT Chairman urged Muslim faithful, particularly media professionals, to sustain the values of patience, tolerance, compassion, and generosity imbibed during Ramadan, stressing that these principles are vital for strengthening unity and advancing national development.
She further called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace unity, mutual respect, and understanding, emphasizing that the country’s diversity remains a key strength that must be harnessed for collective progress.
Ike also encouraged citizens to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, noting that Eid is not only a period of celebration but also a season of sharing, love, and empathy.
While urging leaders at all levels to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice and selfless service exemplified during Ramadan, she called for policies that promote inclusiveness, accountability, and the well-being of all Nigerians.
She, however, advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and adhere to public safety guidelines.
On behalf of the NUJ FCT Council, Ike wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling Eid-el-Fitr celebration, expressing hope that the season would bring renewed unity, prosperity, and hope to the nation.
