Abia State Government  has called on the National Boundary Commission to shun politics and effect appropriate demarcation of boundaries in various States including Abia and Akwa-Ibom States to forestall unnecessary loss of lives of it’s citizens.
The call is coming in the heels of lingering boundary dispute between the people of Ariam/ Usaka and their Nkari neighbors from Akwa Ibom State which has led to the death of many innocent citizens and wanton destruction of properties at Ariam/ Usaka community.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor,Prof. Anthony Agbazuere who made the call in his office when he received in audience the Executive of Ikwuano Council of Traditional Rulers led by Eze (Dr) Eugene Ndimele, stressed the need for the National Boundary Commission to be alive to their responsibilities
He stressed the need for the National Boundary Commission to be alive to their responsibilities and reassured  that the Abia state government would  take concrete steps towards addressing the boundary dispute and restore peace and tranquility to the waring communities.
Agbazuere who frowned at the lingered boundary dispute between the two states however urged the people of Ikwuano to remain calm and law abiding in the face of seeming provocation.
He equally  thanked them for commiserating with the State government over the demise of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, which he described as unfortunate.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation and Chairman, Ikwuano Council of traditional rulers, Eze (Dr) Eugene Ndimele said the essence of their visit was to solicit the support of the State government in settling the boundary dispute between Ariam/Usaka community and their Nkari neighbours from Akwa Ibom State as the National Boundary Commission has not done much in that regard.
He disclosed that more than 14 indigenes of Ariam/Usaka in Ikwuano LGA have lost their lives as a result of attacks by their Akwa Ibom neighbours over boundary disputes and urged the government to come to their rescue.
According to him, the attacks have rendered alot of people from their community internally displaced with no place of abode.

Eze Ndimele further used the medium to commiserate with the state government over the demise of the Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai as well as congratulated the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof. Anthony Agbazuere on his recent elevation to the rank of a professor.
