Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, has announced plans to host the maiden edition of its Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series on July 10, 2025, with renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, named as keynote speaker.
The event is a flagship initiative of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, under the leadership of Professor Nkechi Emma-Echiegu, with strong institutional support from Professor Philip Omoke and Dr. Chike Onwe.
According to a statement from the university, the lecture series is designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions, communities, and the broader society.
Approved by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Ugota Awoke, the lecture will feature Dr. Anyaso—a distinguished alumnus of the Department of English and Literature—as the inaugural speaker. The theme of the 2025 edition is: “From Classroom to Boardroom: The Power of Education in Shaping Destiny.”
This theme, organizers say, mirrors Dr. Anyaso’s inspiring journey from a student at EBSU to one of Nigeria’s most respected business leaders.
Dr. Anyaso is the Chief Executive Officer of Caades Group, a multi-sector conglomerate with strategic investments spanning real estate, oil and gas, healthcare, hospitality, and more. Subsidiaries of the group include Chimbaland Properties and Investment Ltd, Ceecon Oil and Gas Ltd, Oil Rigs Global Resources Ltd, Le Paris Continental Hotel, St. Edwards Specialist Hospital and Cardiac Centre, and Mactom and Reid Consortium.
Beyond his business ventures, Dr. Anyaso is widely respected for his social impact efforts. He is the founder and sponsor of the Ahuoma Anyaso Education Foundation and the Chima Anyaso Foundation, both of which have empowered hundreds of Nigerians through education, skills training, and entrepreneurship.
He has received numerous awards and accolades, including the African Achievers Award for Community Development, Youth Icon of the Year (2017), Vanguard Personality of the Year (2024), and has been listed among the Top 20 Business Professionals in Nigeria by both Vanguard and Champion newspapers.
The July 10 event promises to be a landmark occasion for the university community, offering students, faculty, and the public a rare opportunity to learn from Dr. Anyaso’s wealth of experience and leadership insights.
