D’Tigress Win 5th Record Afrobasket Title

D’Tigess of Nigeria overcame a stubborn Mali side on the last day of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket to become the first team to win the tournament five times in a row.

It was Nigeria’s toughest match of the tournament as they showed character resilience and fortitude to defeat Mali 78-64.

With this win, Nigeria extended their winning streak to 29-0, dating back to the third-place game of the 2015 tournament in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The Malians had the upper hand in the first quarter 25-21, but Rena Wakama’s team regrouped in the second quarter and headed to the locker room tied at 41–41

Nigeria won the third quarter 61-56 before finishing off their West African sisters in the final quarter.
