A senior lecturer in the Department of Management, Rivers State University, Dr. Sovrico Lebua is asking federal government to be genuine in agricultural diversification to help reduce the suffering of the people.
The university Don in an interview with our reporter ask government to provide incentive that will encourage people to go into farming. He said the high cost of commodities in the market can be addressed if Nigerians produce what they consume instead of depending on imported goods.
The university Don further explained that there are things that Nigerians can actually be good on, that they need to work on it and engage in export. Adding that if that is done, trade will be balance. He advised the government to come and and do the needful in order to make things better for the people.
Dr Lebua also condemned the country’s over dependent on oil well. He said if fuel goes up by ten naira, the average taxi man will increase his fare, the market woman who uses the taxi will also increase the price of goods as a result. Adding that everyone wants to shift the additional cost to the next person, which gradually affects the prices of products in the market.
The university Don however appealed that there should be reduction in prices, so that there will also be reduction in difficulty that people are facing. Stating that things are increasing everyday day but salary remains the same.
