Digital Economy Generated Over N1tr In 2 Years -Pantami

The Federal government says the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and MDA’s under it have generated over N1 trillion within the last two years.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami who stated this at the virtual launch of another 12 Digital projects said the ICT sector under President Muhammadu Buhari had stimulated the highest growth rate, therefore, amounting to the huge turnover of the ministry and agencies.

The Communications Minister said the bulk of the income was from telecom spectrum allocation and ICT Company taxes paid to the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

Dr. Pantami said Information Technology projects clearance policy has also saved the Federal Government over N5 billion since promulgation.

The Minister added that, at least, 1,600 ICT and Digital projects are ready for launch.
