Dgov Emetu cautioned students against indulging in social vices

Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, has advised students of Ohafia extraction to focus assiduously on their academic pursuits and avoid engaging in cultism and other social vices.

Speaking while receiving members of the National Association of Ohafia Students (NAOS) Worldwide on a courtesy visit to his Government House office in Umuahia, the state capital, Engr Emetu emphasized on the importance of education and encouraged the students to stay focused in their academic goals.


The Deputy Governor promised to look into some of the students’ demands, including the provision of bursaries for Ohafia students and a bus for the association to assist them in their mobility.


Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ezinna Felix Ukwa encouraged the students to utilize the opportunity of having a brother as a deputy governor and maximise positively any support they receive.

Earlier in his remarks, the President-General of NAOS, Comr Uma Ukpai Kalu, thanked the Deputy Governor for granting them the audience and for his support and guidance, highlighting his commitment to quality education in Abia State.

The commitment, he noted , was evident in the Dr. Alex Otti-led government’s effort to enhance education in Abia State, including retrofitting dilapidated school buildings and provision of free education to primary and secondary school students.

He pledged their unalloyed support to Dr. Alex Otti and Engr Emetu led government and expressed their willingness to support programmes and policies that would bring progress in Abia state.
