Deputy Governor’s Office Dismisses Report on Alleged 2027 Remarks

The Office of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, has denied a report published by ThisNigerian alleging that he made inflammatory remarks about the 2027 general elections and the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Governor’s Media Team, the office described the publication as false, misleading, and a misrepresentation of Engr. Emetu’s views.

According to the statement, the Deputy Governor did not threaten to “teach anyone a bitter political lesson,” nor did he make personal attacks against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of his family, or any other individual.

The statement stressed that the language attributed to him does not reflect his character, principles, or approach to governance. It reaffirmed that Engr. Emetu remains committed to responsible leadership, peaceful democratic engagement, and collaboration in the overall interest of Abia State and the nation.

While acknowledging that the issue of Nnamdi Kanu remains an emotional and widely discussed national matter, the statement emphasized that the Deputy Governor believes such concerns should be addressed through lawful, constitutional, and dialogue-based mechanisms rather than inflammatory rhetoric.

The Office further urged media organizations to verify information before publication to avoid spreading unsubstantiated claims capable of escalating political tension.

The Deputy Governor, the statement added, remains focused on governance, development initiatives, and strengthening democratic institutions in Abia State.
