Abia State Deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has expressed government’s preparedness to meet up with expectations and guidelines of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and other development partners in managing and protecting the GAVI Cold chain Equipment to be delivered to the state to fast tract its routine immunization.
Sir Ude Oko Chukwu who stated this during a courtesy visit by a delegation of national primary health care development agency and UNICEF on him at government house Umuahia reassured that government will ensure that critical stakeholders and all those along the value chain will be lectured on how to take care of the equipment which be put into effective use while traditional rulers will also be adequately briefed on the way forward.
The deputy governor reiterated that the governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s led government on inception placed much premium on health by making it one of the enablers to drive his administration’s because of his concern to supported over healthy Abians thereby achieving total health for all and used the forum to all call on parents , caregivers to ensure that children of immunization age are immunized against the diseases to achieve total health for all.
He commended the National primary health care development, UNICEF and other healthcare development agency for their efforts in all addressing the health needs of not just the state, but entire nations through routine immunization that guarantees healthy beginning for children and urged them to ensure that Abia state is not left behind in their programme.
Earlier in her speech, the Deputy Director, Logistics, Mrs Chimezie Ekpemauzo who represented the Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency Said they are in the state in respect of routine immunization which has dropped drastically across the country and stressed the need to protect and maintain the GAVI cold chain Equipment Optimization platform which will soon be delivered to the state to help in preserving vaccines for immunization available at all books and crannies of the state.
The event featured a presentation from the country Rep, of UNICEF, Mrs Onome Obodolor attracted the presence of members of the state Executive Council, top government officials, state Executive Secretary, Primary health care development agency, and other stakeholders on the health sectors.
