The Late Ezinne Gold Christiana Obinnaya Egege, mother-in-law to the Deputy Governor of Delta State, has been laid to rest in her hometown, Amuke Ntigha Uzo, Isiala Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia state.
The funeral service, conducted by the Anglican Communion, was attended by dignitaries and officials from both Abia and Delta States, members of both Abia and Delta States Houses of Assembly, the Executive Council, and various other groups.
Governor Alex Otti who spoke at the funeral ceremony expressed gratitude to God for the exemplary life of the deceased and extolled her as a woman of great faith who left a lasting legacy.
Governor Otti emphasized that what matters is not how long, but how well one lives, and thanked God that the deceased lived a good life.
He admonished the bereaved family not to mourn like those without hope reminding them to have hope in the resurrection morning when they will reunite with their departed mother.
Also, the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sherif Oborevweori, while acknowledging the positive impact the late Ezinne Gold Christiana Obinnaya Egege had on people during her lifetime, expressed condolences to the Egege family and prayed for her peaceful repose.
The Archbishop of Aba Province of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Isaac Nwaobia, who delivered a sermon on the topic, “This Great Promise,” urged Christians to lead lives pleasing to God in order to receive the promise of eternal life.
He reminded everyone of the importance of being at peace with God and added that the uncertainty of life calls for sober reflection.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme described his mother-in-law as a loving and kind-hearted woman who left behind indelible imprints on the sands of time.
He thanked Governor Alex Otti and his Delta state counterpart, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori among other friends and well wishes for coming to identify with the family during their moment of grief.
Late Ezinne Gold Christiana Obinnaya Egege, who passed away at the age of 68, is survived by her husband, Sir Ishmael Nwaoru Egege, children including the wife of the Delta state Deputy Governor, Her Excellent Lady Catherine Onyeama and a host of other relatives.
