The State House of Assembly in Cross River State has cited numerous petitions filed against Mrs. Eno Giadys Eutendala from her Constituency, Yakurr Local Government Area, as the reason for rejecting her nomination as Commissioner by State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu.
The rejection of Mrs. Eutendala came during the screening process of the 26 Commissioners nominated by Governor Otu. Earlier, the House Speaker, Hon. Elvert Ayambem, had emphasized the need for a thorough screening, leading to the nomination process being conducted in batches.
The first batch of nominees received confirmation without any issues, and the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions, and Conflicts Resolution commended Governor Otu for selecting high-caliber individuals to serve the state.
However, during the consideration of the second batch, which included Mrs. Eutendala, only 13 nominated Commissioners were confirmed, with the Assembly rejecting Mrs. Eno Gladys Eutendala’s nomination due to the weight of petitions against her from her Constituency.
The rejection highlights the importance of thorough vetting and public representation in the appointment of government officials to ensure the integrity and credibility of the State’s administration.
