Cross River: Ayambem Address Doctors as They Protest for Kidnapped Member

The Speaker, House of Assembly in Cross River State have addressed the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Cross River State chapter, who took to the streets in protest for their kidnapped member Prof. Ekanem Philip Ephraim.

The Speaker while addressing the protestants assured them of the Assembly corporation and their readiness to do their bid to make sure their colleague is released in a safe condition.

According to the angry Doctors, Prof. Ephraim has been kidnapped since Thursday 13th of July at her residence along the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Atimbo. And to date, she has not been released.

The Chairman of the Association in the State, Dr. Felix Archibong lamented and revealed that Doctors in the State can no longer able to withstand the trauma, and so have resorted to a protest calling on the Government of Cross River State and Security agents to make sure that their colleague is released.

He said it’s been three weeks since the Neurologist and Consultant at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital was kidnapped, and that the Union will not rest until she is released as this is making it the 14th time their member is kidnapped in the State.

Dr. Archibong maintained that the Doctors will keep protesting until their colleague is released unharmed, he called on the citizens of the state to show they appreciate their services and efforts by helping in search of their colleague instead of complaining that they are not working because it stands they cannot be able to work as all Doctors in the State are sick.
