Covid 19: We’ll not relent in sensitizing Abians on safety measures- Chief Bekee

 

The Abia State Joint Taskforce on COVID-19,led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Homeland Security, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee, has assured that the Covid 19 Taskforce will not relent in advocating and sensitizing the public on the need to observe and comply to all the safety measures as directed by government to fight the Covid -19 Pandemic

Chief Bekee who gave the assurance shortly after monitoring the level of compliance at the Mission Hill area, Umuahia, stressed the need for people to comply with all the laid down directives such as observing social distancing, wearing of face masks, washing of hands under running water and applying sanitizers, stating  that Covid-19 is a reality, describing the curfew imposed by government as that which would help contain the spread of the pandemic.

Speaking also, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu, who said they are doing their best to enforce and implement Government’s directives on the lockdown, which  is aimed at ensuring people adhere strictly to the outlined guidelines for preventing the disease. He  insisted  that Abians  should stay at home and expressing delight that the 6pm to 6am curfew would help contain the movement of people which would inturn stop the spread of the virus

Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu used the medium to call on people to obey the curfew imposed by the state government,as it is in the best interest of the public and warned that government established a special Covid -19 Mobile Court where offenders are tried for infringing government Lockdown directives.
