COVID-19 Vaccination: Use Persuasions Instead Of Force, Activist Cautions FG

A former national president committee for the defense of human rights, Osagie Obayuwana has condemned the plan by the Federal Government to make Covid-19 vaccination compulsory for federal civil servants.

Mr Obayuwana also criticised the Edo State government for insisting to make the vaccination compulsory despite the court order stopping it from doing so.

Dr Obayuwana who is also a former anthorney general and commissioner for justice in Edo State told our reporter that government at all levels should rather employ persuasions instead of force.

The former national president committee for the defense of human rights Osagie Obayuwana stated that there is need to change the enervation in our country at this time, to more of constructive engagement.

He further explained that the duty of the governors is to ensure the protection of the members of the public, therefore they should use the tune of persuasions and not force.

” Suppose the workers decide to go on strike Nationwide over this, what is it that they can do? You can’t compel a man or a woman to inject what he or she has principles or position to” he stated.

In another development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the voters registration in Rivers State.

A political leader in Ward 11 Khana Local Government, Kenneth Iyowika is advising the people in Ward 11 to come out in mass to participate in the ongoing exercise.

Mr Kenneth Iyowika in an interview with our reporter said officials of INEC have started moving from one community to another in Ward 11 to mobilize the people to register.

Kenneth Iyowika further called on the people to ensure that they have the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to ensure and enable them vote and be voted for.
