Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Friday announced gradual relaxation of the on-going lockdown order in the State starting from Saturday, May 2, 2020.
The Governor made it public when addressing the press after a meeting he held with church and market leaders, transport union executives and other stakeholders in Government House Umuahia.
He stated that a 17 member Committee will be set up in every market of the State before activities in Abia markets can begin while churches would be free to conduct many streams of services which would not last more than one hour with members adhering strictly to the preventive measures of Covid 19 guidelines.
He equally announced that people are allowed to bury their dead but with observation of social distancing where sympathizers would not be more than 30 for those conducting in football fields and 10 for the ones conducted in family compounds, stressing that those to bury their dead must obtain authority from the SSG or Traditional Rulers while the LG authorities would supervise it.
Governor Ikpeazu also said that Keke Operators would henceforth carry two passengers, buses would not carry more than two passengers in a row while announcing the compulsory wearing of face mask.
