Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life during his ordeal with COVID-19.
The Governor during a special thanksgiving service, Saturday,held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Eastern Nigerian Union Conference (ENUC) Headquarters, Aba thanked God for exceptional healing mercies that made him survive the Covid 19 infection.
Narrating his ordeal with the Covid-19 infection, Ikpeazu said “it was devastating”, and stressed that without divine intervention, he would have been dead.
In his words: “I underwent COVID-19 test on two different occasions and the results were negative, but I was sick. For three days I became very ill to the point that the doctors that were with me and understood the meaning of oxygen saturation, felt that I wasn’t saturating enough oxygen to reach my organs. They felt that there was more need for me to take serious look at my health.
“I thought it was something that I could muzzle my way through. I mustered all courage, but it was failing. I thank my physician and team of doctors for their excellent services.
“I have forgiven all those who thought I will disappear. I don’t bear any grudge against them.
“I thank the men of God that prayed and supported me through my period of my ill-heath”.
The Governor, who reiterated that Abia remains one of the most politically stable State in the federation thanked the Deputy Governor and other principal officers of government for holding the forte while he was away.
Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa-Ibom state,in his speech said that he was elated to be celebrating with his brother Governor and urged Christians to always live a life of praise.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, in his remarks, thanked God for the survival of his Abia counterpart and urged him to be courageous.
Ugwuanyi, who was represented by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Mr. Uchenna Otuanya, charged Governor Ikpeazu to be prayerful and not to be deterred by attacks from facebook opponents.
In a vote of thanks, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji thanked God for preserving the life of Governor Ikpeazu and urged him to remain focused in the steering the ship of the State.
Earlier in his sermon entitled ‘Oh Taste and See’, the President, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Bassey Udoh,
who centered his sermon on Psalm 34: 1-8, said that the Lord would not allow anyone that puts his trust in him to be disappointed.
He said that God is ever present in trials and always proves himself powerful adding that God never abandons those who trust in Him.
