Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has extended the distribution of Palliative items to vulnerable groups of non Abians residents in the state.
Dr Ikpeazu speaking while handing over the gifts items and Personal Protective Equipments to five States of Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo, Enugu and Akwa lbom at the food Bank of the lnter Ministerial Committee on Covid 19 located at the office of the wife of the Governor, Govt, House, Umuahia ,urged them to make judicious use of the items by ensuring that it gets to the most vulnerable and indigent amongst them.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu recalled that the present administration deemed it necessary to recognise non indigenes residing in Abia State who apart from being part of the success recorded in the state, have remained law abiding by allowing them partake in the palliatives already extended to churches and the 17 LGAs of the state to give them a sense of belonging.
He used the forum to remind non indigenes in the state of the need to abide by all the protocols guiding the Covid 19 and help Govt curtail the spread of the virus by observing basic hygiene of washing their hands with soap under running water, applying alcohol based sanitizers, observing social distancing and compulsory wearing of face masks by everyone.
Responding, the President General of Non indigenes in Abia State, the Rev Ngozi Okorie thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for being so proactive in managing the Corona Virus pandemic in the State as well as for carrying all the non indigenes along in governance without discrimination especially in extending the palliatives to them and promised to continue to reciprocate his goodwill by supporting him to succeed in governance.
Some of the items are as follows,bags of rice, beans, cartons of indomie and sanitizers,were distributed to the Ebonyi People’s Assembly, Anambra State Town Union Association, Association of Imo Town Union, Enugu Consultative Forum and Akwa lbom Indigenous Association through their various Presidents and Chairmen witnessed by the SSG and Chairman lnter Ministerial Committee on Covid 19, Mr Chris Ezem and other members of the committee.
