As relief kept pouring in to the hands of indigent Abians to cushion the effects of hunger over the state lock down and to ensure that corona virus disease did not get to Abia, the wife of Governor Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has made donations of food items, hand sanitizers and face mask to the motherless and destitute homes in the state.
The beneficiaries of these palliative are Motherless babies home and Leprosy centre Uzuakoli, Amaudo itumbauzo destitute home, Agape motherless home, Daughters of Merry motherless home Ahiaeke, Joy Rita motherless home Osisioma, Seventh Day Adventist motherless home Aba, Holy Trinity ophanage and care home Ukwa.
Others are Father Basil motherless home Aba and Princess motherless home Aba.
Handing over the items to the beneficiaries, the Governor’s wife who was represented by the wife of Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mrs. Ndidi Cosmos, said that these palliative is to ensure that no one is left behind and to compliment what Governor Ikpeazu, is already doing to protect Abians against the corona virus pandemic.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the nurse in charge, SDA motherless home Aba, Mrs. Joyce Chibuike said that they are not surprised over the gesture extended to all care homes in the State because the Governor’s wife has been supportive towards them all.
She advised all to be be proactive in adhering to government and health professionals directives to avoid getting infected and spread of the virus.
Recall that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over the week instructed the committee on covid-19 to distribute foodstuffs, face mask and hand sanitizers as palliative measures to combat the pandemic.
