Covid -19 Abia SSG Task Council Bosses To Be Transparent In Sharing Parlliatives

Abia SSG, Barr. Chris Ezem. 

The Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem,  has charged local government transition committee chairmen to show transparency in the distribution of government donated palliatives to the needy, the vulnerable and the downtrodden in their councils to alleviate the effects occasioned by the novel coronavirus on them.

Addressing the last batch of TC chairmen  at the Government House Umuahia, who came to receive the palliatives meant for their councils, Ezem, said that it is of utmost importance to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, that these palliatives really gets to the people that needs it most.

Ezem, maintained that autonomous communities still remains the best channel to ensure effective distribution of the palliatives and called on the council chairmen to involve community leaders, traditional rulers and president generals for effective distributions.

In there separate speeches, the TC. Chairman, Osisioma Ngwa local government area, Dr. Ikechukwu Nwabekee, said while we complied with the directive of the state government we should not neglect the artisans, menial job workers who the effects of the pandemic have stopped their means of livelihoods.

While the TC. Chairman of Ukwa East LGA,  Chief Mrs. Stella Igbokwe, commends the state government for the efforts employed to end the spread of the virus, she expressed hope that the palliatives given to them will surely get to the real people it was meant for.

Also contributing, their Aba South, counterpart, Pharmacist Cherechi Nwogu, said he has employed the services of town cryers to make the explanation local of the importance of observing the directives of self distancing, use of alcohol based sanitizers, face mask and regular washing of hands with soap under running water to mitigate the spread of the virus.

However, Mazi Emmanuel Jideofor Kanu of Arochukwu LGA while commending the efforts of the state government said that his council being a border council area with Calabar and Akwaibom, has employed the services of the local vigilante and the homeland security to checkmate the influx of people coming into Abia from that area.

According to Kanu, while we held on to hope for our medical experts to find the cure for this coronavirus we believe that in no distance time this pandemic will be a thing of the past but on our own we will transparently keep distributing these palliatives as we receives to the real people that needs it.
