Court Arraigns 2 Over Alleged Conspiracy To Kidnap Gov Diri’s Brother

The State Police Command has arraigned two persons in court over the conspiracy and attempt to kidnap Mr. Ebi Ayama, popularly know as Americana, who is also a brother to the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

The suspects named Lucky Oghenebrume, who is 53yrs and Omobowho Okpowodo,52yrs, was arrested by men of the Operation Puff Adder in November, 2023 at Mbiama community in Rivers State.

According to the police authorities, their arrest was possible through intelligence gathering and detailed investigations.

The two suspects, who pleaded not guilty were arraigned at the Kaima High Court sitting in Yenagoa with suit numbered BYH/KHC/CR/2/2024.

Police prosecutor told the court that Lucky Oghenebrume, was the mastermind and on the wanted list of the State Police Command over the alleged involvement in the abduction of one Fyneman in Sagbama Local Government area of the state where a ransom of N50million was paid. He resides in Mbiama community, and stays alone in a massive compound in which he allegedly carry out his operations. He also relocated his family to Delta State to avoid being exposed or trace.

According to the Police prosecutor, the second suspect, Omobowho Okpowodo, owns a motor mechanic workshop, who was allegedly over heared planning to abduct Mr. Ebi Ayama on his way from Ekeremor local Government area.

The Presiding Judge, Justice T. Songi has adjourned the case till 27th February, 2024.

Meanwhile, a cross section of the residents of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital has commended the digital innovation by the State Police Command led by CP Alonyenu Francis Idu with the deployment of drone and other operational assets to tackle crime and threats to restore peace in the State.

According to Comrade Jameson peters, a resident of Opolo area, the proactive response to emergencies such as the recent communal clash in the area is commendable. The coordination among security agencies showed that the present administration is ready to install peace and security of lives and properties in the state.
